Hallo alle!
I was happy to find this discussion here. Thank you Cheludo for posting our software. I am one of the co-founders of Frameright (
https://frameright.io) and as a photographer myself, this cropping issue was a pain in my workflow. That is why we started working on this.
We have recently updated the webapplication (
https://frameright.app) and also added video tutorials (
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...3vkRU24kj_YzjJ). We have also added Terms of Use and are GDPR compliant. Frameright works almost entirely in the browser, so the images are not sent to our servers. The recently added automatic cropping does send a 128x128 pixel version of the image to our server for being cropped by an AI model. We do not store these images or collect any personal data.
We do collect anonymous information about the behavior of users in the user interface with Fullstory (
https://www.fullstory.com/). Fullstory does not collect personal data or the pictures being edited.
If in the future we do start collecting additional data, this will require opting in by the user and will be clearly stated.
To fully benefit from the cropping metadata stored in the images, integrations to a publishing system are needed. We are currently building Wordpress and Contentful plug-ins, and others are on the roadmap. We are also working together with IPTC and their upcoming image regions metadata standard.
Please feel free to contact me personally at
marina@frameright.io. I would love to hear your feedback! You can also write in German.
Cheers,
Marina
